The Ultimate Quarantine Protective Style - Mini Twists | Tutorials

Everybody and their mama are throwing in mini twists because this is the time to do our hair once and then leave it alone for a while! The video below is my process - I’m not about to prop myself up on a high chair and break my back!

.

Key steps while styling mini twists:

Divide & Conquer - Give yourself sections to work with - this way, you can stay organized while knowing what’s ahead of you! Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed when I start mini twists because I have no idea where to start! So, go section to section!

.

Parting - I don’t know about you all, but I don’t care about parting in situations like this! When trying to figure out how to part your twists, jus start from an edge, outline a small hook motion and you’re good to go! As long as you are not transferring hair from other sections while you’re parting, you’ll be good!

These parts will be minding their own business under all that hair when you’re done. I put all my parting powers into the front and the twists along the common parting areas during styling!

.

Product - For mini twists, I do the LCOC method. I apply my leave in, twisting cream and oil to larger sections (my leave in was applied during my heatless blowout). If you apply all three products to individual strands, it may cause build up later when you start to refresh your twists, depending on how small your twists are.

Lastly, I add a small amount of twisting cream to the top of the strand and drag it down while I am twisting to let each twist shine!

Twist & Curl - Twist those roots before you continue to twist your strands and give the end of your twists a little curl with your finger to keep protect your fragile ends. This will give your mane nice body as the twists begin to layer, as well!

This took me about 6 hours to complete - Netflix definitely kept me going!

Would you commit to this style or are you sticking to large twists under your bonnet?
